What is a Google Group?

Google Groups function as both collaborative inboxes, and more commonly as email lists, among serving other purposes. We use them primarily as email lists, also known as mailing lists. Using the Group’s email address you can:

Send email to all group members
Invite group members to meetings
Share content with group members, including documents, sites, videos, and calendars
With some set up, it’s even possible for an individual to send email as the Group. For example, we use this option for dental offices in Open Dental, so statements are coming from the office address, and not from an individual user’s email. It looks more professional, and also means you don’t have to worry where email is going when shuffling roles around in the office or department.

While interaction with Google Groups are mostly done from your inbox, you can see what Groups you’re a member of and access Group archives from https://groups.google.com and clicking My Groups.
